"Today in History" we remember that on this date Friday, May 16 1873, Darlington County residents celebrated the completion and dedication of their "New" Court House. The first first session of court was held in it on June 2nd, Judge C.P. Townsend presided.

Tomorrow in Darlington County History, the citizens of Lamar (Lisbon), will celebrate the 159 anniversary of the Dr. E. J. Mims, Son of Captain George Mims, setting up shop as a town Doctor after completing his education.
On April 28, 1987, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER featured an article on page 6 entitled “UFOs Have Been for Centuries.” The article was written by Franklin R.
