DARLINGTON — J. Warren Coggeshall,

was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Alvin C. and Annie W. Coggeshall. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1916. 2015_11_24_10_11_12_003He served in the U. S. Army in the Mexican Boarder Incident, in France during the World War I with the Rainbow Division (and was awarded the Purple Heart) and in World War II. Uniquely enough, he and his son both served in WWII.2015_11_24_10_11_12_004

File_005He was a civil engineer and was employed by the S. C. Highway Department for many years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion Post No. 13, Damon Hunting Club.
